WFF Mentoring Success Story

Diana Lehet

Thanks in part to her mentor’s support and advice, Diana Lehet of Starbucks Coffee Company was promoted from Manager to Director of Business and Data Operations. Diana took part in the 2006 WFF Mentor Program with Linda Johnson, then SVP Industry Relations for C3 (Creative Consumer Concepts) as her mentor.

Diana believes that mentoring is crucial to career advancement. “My objective in joining the WFF Mentor Program was to advance in my career within Starbucks,” she says. “Linda helped me identify the major obstacles I faced and work past them. She was a great sounding board and offered very valuable advice."

The fact that she and Linda worked in different functions (Diana in Operations and Linda in Marketing) was very beneficial, Diana adds. “Linda was able to see my challenges from another perspective."  Another benefit was partnering with a mentor from a different company.  “ Linda was extremely objective and did not have any preconceived notions.  I was able to speak very freely with her.”

”The WFF Mentor Program is particularly beneficial because women are helping other women,” Diana notes. “It reinforces the idea that professional women are willing to share really useful advice."
