FAQ's About WFF Mentor Program

What if I have time left on my mentor/protégé program and I want to select another mentor?

If you are in the middle of your Protégé subscription, we will facilitate your future pairing with a mentor if you would like to establish a new relationship.  WFF will be able to match you to another mentor based on your needs. Please send an email to Katie Chism at mentors@womensfoodserviceforum.com and she will contact you to find out what your needs are and connect you to another mentor.

I am in an active mentoring pair and need to obtain a file of my work.  How can I do this?

Until November 14, 2008, you can login in to the existing WFF Open Mentoring site to make a copy of your file.  After November 14, all files will be permanently deleted.

Why are discontinuing the program?

The WFF is not discontinuing the opportunity to be paired with a mentor, but instead have chosen NOT to continue with the current online pairing method.  Frankly, the provider was not delivering a consistent quality experience. We will continue to pair protégés and mentors and continue to believe that mentoring is a strong contributor to growth in careers.

What if I do not want to be a mentor any longer or I do not have time right now?

That’s fine!  Life get’s busy.  WFF is an organization that certainly recognizes that flexibility is critical.  Simply send an email to mentors@womensfoodserviceforum.com to let us know that you do not wish to be an active mentor resource at this time. We’ll welcome you back when you are ready.

I have signed on to be a mentor for a long time and was never matched? Why did this happen?

Our industry leaders are very willing contributors!  We had many more mentors than protégés during the entire time the online pairing was offered, and so supply outstripped demand.  Thank you for being willing to give back to your industry.  .

I was a protégé and my mentor never responded to me.

This was one of the most obvious flaws with the online pairing provider and we are sorry that it happened to you.  In some cases, we found pairings that were not as smooth as we would have liked them to be, and we are committed to resolve this as we evaluate new providers.     .

I loved the program - why are you changing it?

You had a great experience—that’s terrific!  You should share your enthusiasm for mentoring with others in the WFF. This is a concept that is understood as being valuable, but is less often ACTED upon.  You can be a leader to those you work with by encouraging them to find a mentor in your organization that can help grow, just as you’ve experienced.
