Joy founded J.O.Y. Foods, Inc. in June of 1998 as the exclusive supplier of the Pizza Hut® Pizza
Pack product line to the K-12 school foodservice market. Shortly after establishing the company she
developed a proprietary line of scratch like, pizzeria quality, fully topped pizzas and component
pizzeria packs. Marketing and merchandising materials, kiosks, and mobile carts were also developed
to support the brand that she called Sprazzo®, an Italian word that means Flash with the tagline
Fresh in a Flash!®.
Sprazzo Fresh In A Flash!® is offered in military installations
both domestic and international, hotels and casinos, stadiums and arenas, colleges and universities
and
various other foodservice outlets. J.O.Y. Foods also produces
private label pizza products for a variety of other companies. In August of 2006, Joy opened a
24,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in the southern sector of Dallas to support the continuing
growth of the company.
J.O.Y. Foods has recently penned another exclusive license
agreement with a major
pizza restaurant chain. Café Pizza by Papa John’s replaces the
previously offered brand in the K-12 school market and is also available in military installations
worldwide. Prior to founding J.O.Y. Foods Joy was Senior Director of National Sales for the Pizza
Hut® Nontraditional Business Group. Additionally her foodservice experience includes key roles in
finance, marketing, sales and product development at Pilgrim’s Pride, Prepared
Foods, Inc. and Uncle Ben’s, Inc.
Most recently, Joy has entered into a joint venture agreement with
Pilgrim’s Pride to form Merit Provisions, LLC, a certified Minority Business Enterprise approved to
supply further processed, batter/breaded chicken products to the McDonald’s system.
Her undergraduate studies were at the University of Chicago where
she majored in
Economics.
