Volunteer to build your strategic connections AND your competence!

Volunteers are a critical component of our success and we are committed to providing an exceptional volunteer experience. Our volunteer program is designed to accomplish important work with guidance by our WFF leadership team. Volunteering is an opportunity for you to support your development needs, leverage your experience, and contribute within the time you have available. You must be a WFF member to sign up for a volunteer role.

We know your time is valuable, that some of our members have more time to contribute than others and people volunteer to support WFF for different reasons. That’s why we are evolving our volunteer structure to offer three different options:

1. Volunteer as an “independent contributor”: This volunteer role allows you to work independently and contribute when YOU have time. Examples of volunteering in this capacity are: Blogging, tweeting, sourcing and sharing relevant content with our constituents, greeting attendees at conference, writing articles for our newsletter, sharing your expertise by training our members and/or volunteers on one of our 12 competencies via conference call, a Success Talk webinar or on a panel or in a break out session at a WFF event.

2. If you have more time to volunteer consider joining a project team as a member or project manager: This role requires volunteering for a defined period of time to complete a specific project (typically 3 – 6 months). This affords you an opportunity to contribute or develop your project management skills, connect with industry colleagues and further the mission of WFF through important project work. Examples of projects are: planning and executing the First Time Attendee event at our annual conference, designing the annual volunteer recognition event, sourcing/evaluating software tools, benchmarking WFF competitors, designing a membership referral program, developing the Know Before You Go webinar for conference attendees, etc.

3. Volunteering to work on a committee requires the most time if you can make a 1 – 2 year commitment to serve as a committee member or leader on work streams that require expertise and continuity because of the nature of the work. This is a longer term assignment with greater time commitments required – typically 3 – 5 hours per month. The WFF leadership team relies on our committed volunteers to give their time and talent, in support of achieving our mission and vision. Participation with the organization as a volunteer is a great way to get involved and maximize the benefits of your WFF membership.
